“A family farm since 1946 we strive to provide the highest quality, sustainably grown products through our regenerative agriculture system.”

“Bell's Farm has been a family run farm since 1946 when the Bell's left their home in Wapato, Washington to purchase 15 acres of land on Whidbey Island, a place they had never even visited! Since 1946 our farm has grown to 65 acres and has become a place where we strive to farm in a responsible and ethical way through our practices of regenerative agriculture. We strive to raise livestock and vegetables using practices and planning to create a healthier landscape and healthier animals over time with careful rotations, and a focus on soil health. We believe farms should be a keystone in their community and we also strive to keep our neighbors and customers involved in what we do here whether it be through agritourism or simple newsletters to update the community.” (Paige, Mueller)

Bell’s Farm Philosophy

”Our holistic farming philosophy revolves around every element of our farm working together. This means that the animals on our farm help to fertilize the ground, turn up the soil, and create biodiversity. This is turn improves soil health and plant health. The plants and animals then go on to feed our family and our customers. Our system of regenerative agriculture results in products that are good for us and that we can feel good about. Here at Bell's we strive to farm in an ethical and sustainable way. Though not certified organic, we don't use synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides on our produce.”

A note from Farmer Paige:

There’s a reason you don’t see an abundance of strawberry farms in western Washington, it’s hard to grow them in our cool maritime climate! Because of that we’re always trying different varieties to find the sweetest, best berry for Bell’s.

What we’re growing:

Puget Reliance: this is our classic June-bearing variety- juicy, sweet, and red all the way through!

Albion: Known as an ‘ever-bearing’ these are the type most comparable to what you’ll find in the grocery store. These berries are more solid, have a more floral taste, and hold up better for transport. We only grow a few rows of these as the ability to hold for longer is lost in flavor.

Puget Crimson: This is a brand new variety recently bred and released by WSU. This berry was specifically cultivated to grown well in the PNW. So far these berries seem to be a delicious cross between our June and ever bearing varieties!

Shuksan: This is a flavor of the past! Known for its huge size and crazy shapes this was our main crop variety in the 80’s and 90’s. Besides being fun to look at these berries are sweet and have the strongest ‘strawberry’ flavor of all our varieties!
